The very 1st S.T.E.A.M. School....
80 kindergarteners stared attentively, not at me, but what was happening. I was nervous, after all this was my first time. These students were counting on me to share something with them, something I called S.T.E.A.M. School. I demonstrated: how density works with salt water and an egg, how a computer chip controls electronics, how the autonomous car I built worked, and how dry ice made smoke filled bubbles. When I turned the cauldron of smoke into a hug bubble, the room filled with oohs and aahs, the students were eating it up. It was not until the bubble burst that the real magic happened. As the bubble out grew its concaved cauldron, it slowly crawled out on to the desk. Then, BOOM! White smoke everywhere, and the crowd went wild, presenting me with a standing ovation. The students loved it, but even more than them, I loved it; and I wanted more. From that day forward, I would be seen around school lugging my two cooler bags full of equipment to any teacher’s class that requested me. I felt like a celebrity, students reminded me of the presentation I did for them, asked questions, and gave hugs. I also received lots of thank you letters from students, and was featured in the weekly newsletter for teacher appreciation week. I continued to do my S.T.E.A.M. School presentations in California and even in Virginia after I relocated. I have had the opportunity to present to over 400 students.

What kids are saying....
"Thank you for sharing those experiments that day. I liked the bubbles. The robot too, I hope you liked it too. You girls are good, I'm a girl too."
